Sharjah Customs thwarts smuggling of 60 kilograms of narcotics at Khalid Port
Inspectors of the Port Khalid Customs Center of the Sharjah Port, Customs and Free Zones Authority managed to thwart the smuggling of 60216,14378 kilograms of narcotics and <>,<> narcotic tablets, during nine seizures in the first third of this year.
The inspection officers and elements of the center dealt a painful blow to the smugglers for enjoying a high sense of security supported by the latest international examination devices, and their efficiency in thwarting their attempts to bring these narcotic substances into the country, by seizing them upon arrival, whether in refrigerated containers or other ways through which the smugglers tried to enter these contraband, all of which failed.
The Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority praised the efficiency and experience of customs officers and inspectors that enabled them to achieve this success, stressing its keenness and full commitment to harness its capabilities and enhance its efforts to counter prohibited smuggling attempts in general and drug smuggling in particular through all customs ports of the Emirate of Sharjah, within the national approach followed in protecting the security and safety of society and ensuring its safety, in a way that contributes positively to the prosperity of the national economy.
The Director of Khalid Salem Port Customs Center, Abdullah Majed Al-Zumar, said: "The great attention paid by the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority to the customs sector, providing advanced devices for customs detection and keeping pace with the latest technologies in the customs field, as well as raising the efficiency of inspectors through training courses held throughout the year, has had a great impact on enhancing customs work, and maintaining a high flow of goods and passengers through the customs ports of the Emirate of Sharjah, especially the port of Khalid Port. The efforts and role of the center's qualified officers and inspectors and the high sense of security they enjoy in all circumstances and at any time, stressing that they will continue their role and stand against any attempts to smuggle through the port."
It is noteworthy that customs inspectors at Khalid Port Customs handle a wide range of shipping patterns, including containers, general cargo cargo, food and agricultural refrigerators, live animals, dry bulk and bulk goods, vehicles and heavy equipment, in addition to sea travelers through the port.
