Russian President Vladimir Putin today signed Russia's withdrawal document from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe.

According to RT, the Kremlin today published the document on the official Internet portal for legal information.

Earlier this month, Putin issued a decree on Russia's intention to withdraw from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was appointed as the president's representative when considering the initiative before the Russian Duma in both chambers.

The Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe was signed in Paris in 1990, and in 1999 an updated version of the treaty was signed at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe summit in Istanbul, and the amended treaty was ratified by only 4 countries, namely Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
