Brasilia-SANA

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has expressed his country's desire to join the BRICS group in order to participate in building the new world policy.

Venezuela's Telesur television quoted Maduro as saying after meeting Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the Brazilian capital Brasilia today: "If you ask Venezuela to join the BRICS, the answer will be yes, we would like to be part of a group of five strong countries, which is now turning into a magnet for all who want another world based on peace and cooperation."

For his part, the Brazilian president supported Venezuela's accession to the group, saying: "I support the integration of Venezuela with the BRICS countries and we will meet soon and we have to evaluate the different requests for integration."

The BRICS is an international organization that includes Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, and its economies account for 23 percent of the global economy and 18 percent of international trade.
