The Egyptian Armed Forces issued a statement saying that in continuation of its efforts to support the combat and technical capabilities of the Egyptian naval forces and develop them according to the latest global combat systems, the armed forces received the second frigate model (MEKO-A200), which was built by the company (TKMS) at the German arsenal (SBN), marking its entry into service in the Egyptian naval forces.

Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Naval Forces, raised the Egyptian flag on the frigate "Al-Qahar", which is the second of four frigates of the (MEKO-A200) class contracted between Egypt and Germany, during a ceremony held in the German city of Bremerhaven, in the presence of a number of commanders of the Egyptian and German naval forces, the Egyptian ambassador to Germany, the Egyptian military attaché in Germany and a number of representatives of the German company (TKMS) manufacturer of the frigate "Al-Qahar".

The new multi-mission frigate "Al-Qahar" is characterized by many technical characteristics and modern armament systems that enable it to carry out all combat missions at sea in times of peace and war, and to secure the various sources of natural resources at sea, making it a huge technological addition to the capabilities of the naval forces and supporting their ability to protect Egyptian national security.
