Recep Tayyip Erdogan wins Turkish presidential elections

The head of the Supreme Presidential Election Commission in Turkey, Ahmet Yenar, announced that outgoing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan obtained 54.47 percent, and with this announcement Erdogan has settled the run-off with the competition of opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

The outgoing Turkish president on Sunday evening still topped the results of the second round of presidential elections after more than 95 percent of the ballots were counted, according to the official Anadolu news agency.

Erdogan, who has ruled Turkey for twenty years, won 52.47 percent of the vote against 47.7 percent for his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu, according to these inconclusive results.

Turkey's election commission said turnout in the second round of the presidential election was 83.99%.
