Another elected official targeted by anonymous threats. Franck Louvrier, former communicator of Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysee and mayor The Republicans of La Baule (Loire-Atlantique), received in early May a threatening letter addressed to his personal name at the town hall, including a photo of Samuel Paty, we learned Saturday from the elected LR. An investigation has been opened.

This anonymous three-page letter included two photos of the decapitated head of teacher Samuel Paty and a photo of the bodies of the Bataclan attack, under which it was written in red "soon in La Baule?" he detailed, adding that this had never happened to him before.

He chose to unveil this information at the municipal council meeting on Friday, May 26. "I hesitated to talk about it publicly but given the climate of the moment, I thought it was my duty to reveal it," he said.

"The tricolor scarf does not protect more than the blouse or the uniform and it is a sign that our democracy is very sick," he added, calling for exemplary sanctions "when these acts affect police officers, nurses, firefighters or elected officials".

After receiving this letter, in which the three photos took up a lot of space, the mayor immediately informed the municipal police.

Very soon after, Franck Louvrier says he received a call from the prefect, the sub-prefect and the prosecutor of the Republic. The judicial police of Nantes was seized and went to La Baule to interview the people who had received this letter. The investigation is still ongoing, according to the elected official.

"Intimidation is increasingly present in the daily lives of elected officials," continued the former communication adviser to Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysee, pointing to "those who trivialize racism or those who want to question the functioning of our institutions." "We are within range of violent acts and criminal acts while we were within range of slaps," he said.

Franck Louvrier recalls several precedents in the Loire-Atlantique department: the recent resignation of the mayor of Saint-Brevin Yannick Morez after the arson that affected part of his house, the suicide of the mayor of Rezé, in 2022, victim of malicious mail or, in 2000, a parcel bomb targeting Christophe Priou, the mayor of Le Croisic, whose explosion killed a technical services employee.
