Today, 1477 adolescents from different governorates participated in the first placement test for the programming marathon for children and adolescents for the year 2023, which is organized by the Syrian Scientific Olympiad Department at the Excellence and Creativity Commission in cooperation with the Lifelong Learning Center at the Syrian Virtual University.

The Commission for Excellence and Creativity stated in a statement, a copy of which was received by SANA, that the test was conducted at the centers of the Syrian Virtual University in the governorates for the category of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 16 years, and took an hour and a quarter to determine their level in the programming language "C Plus Plus" and sort them into two levels of beginner and advanced to start training them under the supervision of certified trainers to train this age group in preparation for their competitive stage in the later stages.

The authority indicated that the first level determination test for the category of young people between the ages of 8 and 11 years will take place on the third of next June, indicating that the lists of names and examination centers for it will be announced later.

The programming marathon aims to raise the general scientific level and enhance the logical analysis skills of young people by teaching them text and graphic programming languages and providing programming training in a way that reflects positively on their educational achievement.

The marathon also works to provide useful and open scientific content available in Arabic in the field of programming and informatics that provides a supportive means for teaching computer science at the school stage and raising the level of knowledge and skills of students by participating in international competitions and sponsoring distinguished students in this field.
