Vasily Peskarev, chairman of the State Duma's Committee for the Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia's Internal Affairs, revealed that the United States topped the list of countries that finance the activities of foreign agents in Russia in 2022.

"According to the results of the investigations in this regard last year, the United States topped the list of countries that finance the activities of foreign agents in our country, and for this purpose a total of 270 million rubles was allocated, and according to official data and figures reached as a result of the monitoring, the amounts received by foreigners a year ago amounted to 60 million rubles," the Novosti news agency quoted Pescarev as saying.

Piskarev noted that the United States itself recently announced that it would spend about $9.5 billion under the pretext of "supporting democracy in the world" in 2022-2024, adding: "It seems that (people of good will) in the United States are not sparing money on anti-Russian fabrication and disinformation campaigns."
