Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said today that the West does not want a strong Iran and is arming its enemies.

Commenting on the issue of Western governments' concern about the progress of Iran's defensive power, Kanani said in a tweet according to IRNA: "They do not want a strong Iran, and Western governments themselves, especially the United States and France, have played a major role in the past to incite attacks on unarmed Iranian civilians, and to rain missiles on their cities."

Kanani pointed out that these countries are themselves the top arms exporters to the region, and today express concern about the progress of Iran's defensive power.

The event of unveiling the Khyber ballistic missile, the fourth generation of the Khorramshahr missile, on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr on May 24, sparked fear and anger in the United States, with State Department spokesman Matthew Miller describing it as a threat.
