Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has relied on scientific reports confirming that the use of public transport is about 10 times safer, compared to driving vehicles, in its call to rely on environmentally friendly means of transportation, especially mass transportation.

In awareness publications broadcast on its digital platforms, DEWA confirmed that the use of public transport contributes to reducing 155,450 carbon dioxide emissions, and helps to eliminate <>,<> waste from vehicles, in addition to saving energy, money and effort.

In detailing the reasons for the high level of safety resulting from relying on mass transportation, data and statistics issued by the global "transport laboratories", of which "Emirates Today" has seen an electronic copy, indicate that the individual reduces the likelihood of being exposed to an accident while traveling on public transport by 90%, compared to moving through vehicles. The reports also confirm that communities that rely on mass transit are about five times safer than communities that rely mainly on vehicle mobility.

Experts in the field of sustainable transport advise that everyone try to contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of vehicle density, by replacing vehicle travel with commuting on public transport at least three times a month.

The reports provide one example of the increase in the percentage of accidents caused by vehicle traffic over the past 10 years, indicating that more than 35,2015 deaths occurred in 2014 in the United States of America due to vehicle accidents, which then recorded an increase of 7% over the previous year 50, and constituted the highest number of vehicle accident deaths in <> years.

In 2021, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) was able to achieve tangible environmental achievements, as it was able to reduce total energy consumption by 18%, as gasoline consumption decreased by 36%, compared to the average consumption in the years 2016 to 2019, as a result of the expansion of the Dubai Taxi Corporation in the use of hybrid and electric taxis, as well as a decrease in diesel consumption by 15% during the same period, despite the increase in the fleet of public transport buses, as the authority replaced the old buses A modern one is equipped with an environmentally friendly Euro 6 engine that complies with European carbon emissions.
