An 81-year-old woman died after being hit by a motorcycle on 10 May 2023 in London, United Kingdom. His family announced the news on Wednesday. The Briton was crossing on a pedestrian crossing when a motorcyclist belonging to the Duchess of Edinburgh's motorcade ran her over, reports Sky News. At the time of the accident, the octogenarian had suffered significant fractures and internal injuries, requiring his emergency hospitalization.

A "loving, kind and caring woman"

"She fought for her life for almost two weeks, but irreversible brain damage finally ended her fight today," her son said. According to her family, the victim was "a highly respected and popular member of the community," a mother of four, a grandmother of ten and seven times great-grandmother. She has been described as a "loving, kind and caring woman, who always put others before herself." The family wants more clarification on the death of the octogenarian, who was circulating on the nails at the time of the collision.



"We are upset and angry that his life has been cut short and we want to hear more details from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as soon as possible, to help us understand the truth about how this happened," his family said. Sophie Rhys-Jones, the Duchess of Edinburgh and wife of Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II, said she was "deeply saddened" by the tragedy. In an official statement, she sent "her deepest condolences and sympathy to the whole family." The Duchess intends to get in touch with them soon.
