The
Democratic Party of Korea (MDP) has expelled a party member for sending text bombs to so-called non-Lee Jae-myung lawmakers who are not classified as Lee Jae-myung's side. It was the first time that the letter bomb was punished as an act of inciting division in the party, and there were voices within the party calling for him to break with his polar constituency.

After a motion to arrest Lee Jae-myung was narrowly defeated in late February, a barrage of protest calls and text messages was directed at lawmakers who were believed to have voted for the rebellion, mainly from hard-line supporters.

It was a secret ballot, but because she was classified as an in-person member, Rep. Jeon Hye-sook was also bombarded with abusive texts that were difficult to contain.

[Rep. Jeon Hye-sook, Democratic Party: Well, I can laugh at the criticism that is so loud. (By the way, this person's text message) is such a rant and profanity that can personally wipe out a person....]

The Democratic Party expelled a hard-line party member for continuously sending abusive texts to non-nominal lawmakers at the time.

This is in accordance with the party rules that anyone who undermines unity among party members through false facts or insulting words and deeds can be punished, and this is the highest level of punishment.

In response to allegations of sexually harassing a fellow city councilor, Representative Lee also ordered an urgent ethics inspection.

Lee said it was "part of the party's discipline" and that "decisive action will continue to be taken against acts that cause division or harm the party."

However, there were calls from non-Myung lawmakers that "it is too late" and "what is the point of expelling one or two people, starting with the fan café 'Jaemyung Ine Village'".

There is a lot of criticism within the party that the disciplinary decision against Rep. Choi Kang-wook, who was suspended from the party for six months due to allegations of sexual harassment and requested a retrial, has not been issued until one year after the incident because the leadership's hard-line supporters are noticing.
