The Speaker of the People's Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh said during his meeting today with the Algerian ambassador in Damascus Lahcen Tohamy on the occasion of the end of his duties as ambassador of his country in Damascus, that Syria and Algeria share brotherly relations and ties rooted throughout history, highly appreciating the support of Algeria's leadership, government and people by Syria throughout the years of the terrorist war waged against it.

Sabbagh pointed out during the meeting that Algeria, the loving and brotherly country of Syria, will always remain in the hearts and consciences of Syrians, because it has taken a principled and decisive position to support Syria and support it despite all the pressures exerted on him, expressing his wishes to Ambassador Tohamy success in his new duties, just as he succeeded in performing his duties as ambassador of his country in Syria.

For his part, Ambassador Tohamy stressed that Syria represents the second homeland for the Algerian people, and that his country's continuation of standing by Syria is natural, because it stands on the side of truth and justice, indicating that Syria is the source of Arabism and the country of civilization, heritage, brotherhood and history.

Ambassador Tohamy also expressed his confidence that Syria's recovery and the establishment of a state of security, prosperity and prosperity in it will reflect positively on all countries and peoples of the region.

The meeting was attended by members of the Council's Bureau and members of the Council's Syrian-Algerian Brotherhood Committee.
