The death toll from floods in northern Italy has risen to 15, the worst in nearly a hundred years.

The ANSA news agency quoted local authorities as saying: "The number of victims rose after the gendarmerie found the body of a 68-year-old missing person in the city of Lugo, one of the most flood-affected areas in the province of "Emilia-Romagna".

The province of Emilia-Romagna was recently hit hard by unusually heavy rains, which local experts attributed to the climate change crisis. The region remains on high alert for extreme weather conditions as residents try to recover from the worst flooding in nearly a century.

The floods caused severe damage to the local economy and infrastructure, and the number of towns affected by the floods reached 42, forcing 10,34 people from their homes, while <>,<> homes remained without electricity.
