The vigilant Nantes had spotted his surprise absence in mid-February. The barge Nantilus, usually connected to the Parc des Chantiers on the Ile de Nantes, had escaped to get a winter beauty near Saint-Nazaire. The floating building, which houses a bar, two restaurants and a panoramic terrace, finally returned on Tuesday. However, access to the dock and barge is still closed, as the pontoons are being installed. The reopening to the public is scheduled for the end of May, almost a month late, traders announce.

Built by naval architect Olivier Flahault, the barge, 57 meters long, offers a remarkable view of the Loire, the island of Nantes and the Quai de la Fosse since 2011. This summer, it had been the subject of ten-year maintenance work in dry dock, particularly at the hull level.

At the time of the commissioning of the Nantilus, Olivier Flahault was also considering the opening of a second floating building, a hotel, which ultimately never saw the light of day.
