His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed yesterday evening the announcement by the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah of the preliminary results of the "Sharjah Census 2022" project, which showed that the emirate's population reached 1.8 million people, 61% of whom are an active workforce in various sectors.

The preliminary census results showed that the emirate's population increased by 22% over the 2015 census, which had a population of 1.4 million, reflecting the continuous economic growth and investment attraction of the emirate, which increased its workforce by 22%, from 856,2015 in 1 to 1.2022 million in 253. The number of students enrolled in education increased from 310,23 to <>,<>, by <>%, demonstrating the emirate's commitment to improving the quality of education and providing learning opportunities for all segments of society.

In celebration of the Department of Statistics' achievement of the Sharjah Census 2022 project, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi honored 50 entities from the government, semi-government and private sectors that contributed to the completion of the project, which marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Department.

The preliminary results of the "Sharjah Census 2022" announced by the Department of Statistics and Community Development showed that the total population of the Emirate of Sharjah reached about 1.8 million people, including 208,1 UAE citizens, and 6.103 million of other nationalities. The number of male citizens reached 1,1, and 105.500 million non-citizens, while the number of female citizens reached <>,<>, and <>,<> non-citizens.

The age group from 20 to 39 years topped the population of Sharjah, with 914,51 members (40% of the total population), followed by the population of the age group from 59 to 443 years with 24,0 and 19%, then the age group from 399-22 years, which amounted to 60,55, or 3%, and finally the group over <> years, with <>,<> people, representing <>% of the total population.

The results indicated that the total number of enrolled in education reached 310,249 people, including 61,<> in private education and <>,<> in public education.

The geographical distribution of the population showed that the city of Sharjah has the largest population with 1.6 million people, followed by Khorfakkan with 53,51, Kalba with 33,19, then Al Dhaid with 18,15, followed by Al Hamriyah with 7000,6000, then Al Madam with <>,<>, and the population of Dibba Al Hisn reached <>,<>, Al Bataeh <>,<> people, and finally Maliha with <>,<> people.

The census results also showed that the number of units occupied for housing in the Emirate of Sharjah reached 244 thousand units, distributed in 63 thousand villas and houses, 7000,38 buildings, and <>,<> other types of buildings.

The number of households in the emirate reached 340,42 families, including 245,53 Emirati families, <>,<> non-Emirati families, and the number of collective families reached <>,<> families.

The results of the "Sharjah Census 2022" were based on census data collected at different administrative levels, including 10 towns, 97 suburbs, 356 regions, and 7961,<> statistical squares, which confirms the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the census process, which used the latest technologies and methods to collect and analyze data, helping to plan and develop services and projects that meet the needs of the emirate's residents.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, said: "We celebrate the achievement of the Sharjah Census 2022, which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Department's work, during these years the Department confirmed that statistics is not just a process of collecting data or documenting numbers, but rather a reflection of the reality of social, economic and cultural life in the emirate, and documenting the achievements of our development process, which is the source of human strength and movement."

He added: "If we read the results of the census, we find that Sharjah is a large house for one family with multiple cultures and nationalities, and that it is a distinguished incubator for economic, cultural and scientific movement based on richness and diversity. The census includes all components of Sharjah society, including population, households, housing, buildings, establishments and economic and social sectors."
