The Central Election Commission, which has been controversial in the preferential hiring of four children of senior executives, including former and current secretary-generals, has further raised suspicions that there have been two more similar cases of recruitment.

Members of the ruling party of the National Assembly Committee on Public Administration and Security made this announcement at a briefing after visiting the Central Election Commission in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, this morning (4rd) in protest and meeting with Secretary-General Park Chan-jin and Deputy Secretary-General Song Bong-sup.

Rep. Lee Man-hee, a member of the ruling party's executive committee, said, "The personnel department of the commission said that there was one similar case in the career recruitment process in the Gyeongnam region," adding, "It was not confirmed by the commission, but we will announce it after further confirmation, but there is also one case that was identified by the executive committee members."

Lawmaker Lee explained, "Two people have been added to the four people who have been clearly identified," adding, "The case in Gyeongnam confirmed by the Commission is a third-level official, and the case identified by the Executive Commission is a former first-level member."

He said that it was a "cover-up" that the Commission conducted its own special audit in relation to the allegations of preferential hiring, and pointed out that an external agency such as the Auditor General needed to be audited.

People Power is calling for an investigation by the prosecutor's office into allegations of preferential treatment in the hiring of children.

Senate Majority Leader Yoon Jae-ok met with reporters after the House of Representatives meeting at the National Assembly and said, "It is desirable to clarify the problem through an audit, but it seems that the Election Commission does not have the will to conduct its own audit."

Park Yong-yong, chairman of the Policy Committee, also said, "It is very shocking that the fathers themselves approved the appointment of their children," and stressed that "the prosecution should investigate."
