Speaker of the People's Assembly Hammoudeh Sabbagh met today with the delegation of the European Front for the Defense of Syria (Italian Casa Pound party), at the Council building in Damascus.

During the meeting, Sabbagh pointed to the importance of the role played by the delegation in defending Syria and communicating the reality of what is happening on the ground to international public opinion, stressing that Syria's decision is independent and stems from the interests of its people and their confidence in their leadership, represented by President Bashar al-Assad.

Sabbagh pointed to the gradual return of normal life to all service and living facilities in Syria, which began to recover from the effects of the war imposed on it, pointing out that the unjust sanctions and unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria will not affect the steadfastness of the Syrian people.

Sabbagh denounced the violations of the United States of America against Syria, and its looting of national wealth in clear violation of all international conventions, as well as the Turkish blockade that cuts off drinking water for one million Syrian citizens in Hasaka province, which represents a crime described against citizens in it.

For his part, the head of the Italian delegation, Jean Luca Iannoni, head of the Casa Pound party, expressed his appreciation for the great hospitality received by the delegation during its reception, stressing that it is aware of the reality of the situation in Syria, and referring to the historical relations between the Syrian and Italian peoples.

Yannoni expressed the delegation's solidarity and stand with the Syrian people and the Syrian leadership headed by President Bashar al-Assad, stressing that the delegation will spare no effort in showing the reality of the disadvantages of the political, economic and scientific blockade that Syria suffers from, and affects the social and economic life of Syrian citizens.

The head of the party pointed out that the European public policy is moving towards isolating Syria, while the majority of European citizens who are contacted do not support this policy, indicating that this meeting today confirms the delegation's solidarity with Syria until reaching the final victory and eliminating all forms of siege imposed on it.
