Head of State, Australian Prime Minister discuss prospects for cooperation between the two countries
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday received a phone call from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, during which they discussed the friendly relations and cooperation between the UAE and Australia, and the possibilities of supporting and developing them at various levels, in order to promote their common interests.
During the phone call, the two sides also discussed enhancing joint work between the UAE and Australia to open new horizons for cooperation and constructive qualitative partnerships and increase trade and investment exchange, thus contributing to the consolidation of the strong growing relations between the two countries.
During the call, the two sides discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, and exchanged views on them, especially the issue of climate change and the role of the United Arab Emirates and its leadership in efforts to address this phenomenon through its presidency of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) to be held before the end of the year.
The Australian Prime Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the President of the UAE for the efforts made by the UAE in evacuating Australian nationals from Sudan and Afghanistan as part of its humanitarian efforts to evacuate stranded people from friendly countries, praising the efficiency shown by the various concerned authorities in the country and the facilities provided to secure their safety and transport.
