China has accused the G7 countries of denigrating attacks and "interference in internal affairs". In an unusually harsh reaction to the summit of the seven major democratic industrialized nations in Hiroshima, Japan, a foreign ministry spokesman said in Beijing on Saturday: "The G7 group ignores China's serious concerns and insists on manipulating China-related affairs, slandering and attacking China, and grossly interfering in China's internal affairs."

The G7 sings the song of a peaceful world, but "suppresses the development of other countries" and impairs peace and regional stability. China expressed its strong dissatisfaction and protested to the G7 host Japan and the countries concerned. The spokesman described the G7 as a small group that serves the "selfish interests" of the US. In addition to the United States, the G7 also includes Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and Canada, as well as the European Union.

The Chinese spokesman was reacting to the tougher stance taken by the G7 countries towards China at their summit. The group aims to reduce its dependencies on the second-largest economy and reduce risks in supply chains. In a statement, the G7 also rejected China's claims to power in the East and South China Seas and warned against military action against democratic Taiwan.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated that Taiwan is understood as part of the People's Republic. The resolution of the Taiwan issue is a matter for the Chinese people alone. Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet or human rights are also "internal affairs" of China, the spokesman said in response to criticism by the G7 of China's actions.
