Three people have died in the crash of a small plane of the Frankfurt Zoological Society in Tanzania. Among the fatalities were two Tanzanian employees of the company – the pilot and a young colleague, said a spokeswoman on Friday in Frankfurt. The country's Ministry of Tourism also confirmed three fatalities.

According to the Zoological Society, two park rangers from Tanzania were on board in addition to their employees. One of them died in hospital after the accident on Thursday. The other is in critical condition. They are now working closely with the authorities to clarify the causes of the tragic accident.

According to a report by the Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority, the plane crashed in Nyerere National Park immediately after takeoff from the Matambwe runway. The authority announced an investigation into the accident.
