China reiterated that the "one-China" principle is the cornerstone of peace in the Taiwan Strait, calling on the United States, Japan and other members of the Group of Seven to stop colluding with forces seeking so-called "Taiwan independence."

Xinhua quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin as saying yesterday at a daily news briefing in response to media reports that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Japan shared the position during the Group of Seven summit that the Taiwan issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue. The United States, Japan and the other members of the Group of Seven should stop

Provocations and playing with fire regarding the Taiwan issue, he said, adding that it is quite clear that these countries are also responsible for tensions in the Taiwan Strait.

The real threat to cross-Strait peace and stability lies in the DPP authorities' unwillingness to recognize the 1992 one-China consensus, separatist activities seeking so-called "Taiwan independence" and attempts to change the status quo of the Taiwan Strait sides belonging to one China, Wang said.

Wang noted that in order to maintain peace in the Taiwan Strait, it is necessary to unequivocally adhere to the one-China principle, and oppose the dangerous and provocative moves of the so-called "Taiwan independence" forces.

The Chinese official said his country will not accept any attempt by any person or force to curb efforts to stop separatism seeking so-called "Taiwan independence," and will not allow anyone or force to interfere in China's private affairs under the pretext of seeking peace.
