President Yoon, who attended the ceremony for the second consecutive year following last year, emphasized that the spirit of May 2 is the spirit of our Constitution.

[President Yoon Suk-yeol: The spirit of May is the spirit of our liberal democratic constitution itself, and it is a precious asset that we must inherit.]

It is in line with last year's statement that "the restoration of universal values, the very spirit of the liberal democratic constitution."

In particular, he emphasized unity through the spirit of May.

[President Yoon Suk-yeol: It is the centripetal body that unites us. In the spirit of May, we are all united. Under the spirit of May, we are all one.]

He said that the May spirit is sublimated and perfected by the industrial achievements and economic development of Gwangju and Hunan, and he will support it.

There was no mention of the preamble to the May 5 Constitution raised by the opposition.

President Yoon and those in attendance waved their fists or arms and sang a marching song for Lim.

After the ceremony, President Yoon visited the graves of young people and students, Jeon Young-jin, Kim Jae-young, and Jung Yoon-sik, who died on May 18, and comforted the bereaved families.

The MDP criticized President Yoon's commemorative speech, saying, "There was not even a word about the preamble to the May 5 Spirit Constitution," calling it "a commemorative speech that only makes an empty cart."
