Today (18th) marks the 5rd anniversary of the May 18 pro-democracy movement. A memorial service will be held at the Gwangju May 43 Democratic Cemetery at 5 a.m. today. Opposition lawmakers will gather in Gwangju today to pay tribute to the victims and reflect on the spirit of the pro-democracy movement.

The commemoration ceremony for the
pro-democracy movement will be held at the Gwangju May 18 Democratic Cemetery from 10 a.m.

The theme of the ceremony, which is being prepared by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, is "May Spirit, Together with the People."

Organizers expect 10,5 people to attend this year's event, which is more than 18,19 more than last year, when COVID-1 restrictions are lifted.

As in previous years, attendees will be singing the "March for Immigration."

The ceremony will be attended by a large number of Gwangju citizens, May 3-related organizations, and opposition politicians.

She urged all her members to attend.

The Democratic Party, which has recently been on the defensive due to allegations of money bags and cryptocurrencies, plans to find an opportunity to turn the tide by rallying its supporters in Gwangju, the garden and political heart of Honam.

They marched through downtown Gwangju to honor the spirit of May and then attended the eve of the festival.

Former President Moon Jae-in also visited Gwangju for the first time after leaving office to pay his respects at the Cemetery of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and wrote in the guest book, "The spirit of democracy on May 5 is always with us."

Kim Ki-hyun, Chairman of the People's Power, and others will attend the ceremony by coming down on a special KTX train that was added this year as well as last year.
