The Awqaf Foundation and the Department of Minors Funds in Dubai have provided AED 460,<> in support to the Noor Dubai Foundation to contribute to supporting humanitarian cases related to combating blindness and treating all forms of visual impairments.

This support comes from the Zakat Bank in Dubai Awqaf to contribute to the treatment of cases of eye diseases of all kinds who do not have health insurance that covers the costs of eye operations and the expenses of treating other visual diseases, and to provide treatment for low-income eye patients, residing in the country, and the support includes the treatment of eye diseases that cause blindness, vision correction operations or eye accident injuries and other eye diseases.

Khalid Al Thani, Deputy Secretary General of Awqaf Foundation and Minors Funds Management in Dubai, handed the cheque to the Executive Director of Noor Dubai Foundation, Dr. Manal Taryam, at the Foundation's headquarters in Garhoud.

Al-Thani said that the support comes within the framework of the Foundation's efforts to expand the scope of its services in the health sector and strengthen strategic partnerships that contribute to serving this vital sector in society.

He stated that the Foundation is keen to strengthen cooperation with the Noor Dubai Charity Foundation continuously, in support of its efforts to support the defaulters and those unable to afford the expenses of treatment of eye patients and provide the necessary treatment expenses for vision diseases and the fight against blindness, to contribute to their treatment, improve their health status and return to their full wellness to their normal lives.

For her part, Manal Taryam said that despite the progress made by Noor Dubai Foundation in the field of combating blindness, there is still a need to provide specialized eye care services to those in need.

According to the World Health Organization, 295 million people worldwide suffer from low vision, 80% of whom can be treated or prevented from developing visual impairment if appropriate treatment is available. Despite the challenges faced by the humanitarian sector due to the difficulty of reaching communities in need and sustainability in funding, thanks to the guidance of the leadership and the support of institutions and individuals, Noor Dubai has been able to treat 33 million beneficiaries around the world.

Taryam thanked the Awqaf Foundation and the Department of Minors Funds for its continuous support for anti-blindness programs, which contributed to providing treatment to a number of residents in the country, explaining that the support comes to continue providing services to the needy by providing surgeries and medical treatments.
