A 13-year-old boy in the United States made headlines after he used a slingshot to prevent the kidnapping of his 8-year-old sister.

On the 14th local time, foreign media such as the New York Post and CNN reported that an 8-year-old girl was almost abducted in a residential area in Michigan, United States.

According to reports, an 8-year-old girl was approached by an 13-year-old girl who was picking mushrooms in the backyard of her home.

A man approached from a nearby forest and grabbed the girl from behind, closed his mouth, and attempted to kidnap her.

The <>-year-old brother, who witnessed the crime from the room, showed his wits and hit the suspect in the head and chest with a slingshot.

"We saved my sister from a really dangerous situation," police said, adding, "It's amazing that a 13-year-old boy saw the crime scene and reacted quickly."

"The slingshot helped us to search for the suspect because he was seriously wounded," he said, adding that they arrested a 17-year-old male suspect who was hiding at a nearby gas station.

When the story of the boy who saved his sister with a slingshot was told, local fans cheered him with reactions such as "It's cool that you don't panic," "Your brother is a lifelong hero," and "You're brave."

Meanwhile, the man, who has been charged with kidnapping, attempted child enticement and assault, is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 17.
