An individual, "main suspect" suspected of being the author of Saturday's shooting in Villerupt (Meurthe-et-Moselle), was arrested on Monday in the same city, announced the prosecutor of the Republic of Nancy, François Capin-Dulhoste, in charge of the investigation.

As a reminder, this shooting, which shocked the entire small town of barely 10,000 inhabitants, left five wounded, three of them serious. The shooting occurred on "a point of deal" and is probably linked to drug trafficking, according to local elected officials, in this city near the Luxembourg and Belgian borders.

The suspect "was arrested at 06:05, near the home of his two brothers", and was placed in custody, said the magistrate.
