4 steps to subscribe online to the unemployment insurance system

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has confirmed the ease and speed of the steps to subscribe to the unemployment insurance system, which aims to secure a temporary income for the insured for a period of three months when they are unemployed, at a low cost until alternative job opportunities are available, in a way that supports the career path and living stability of workers in the labor market without employers incurring any costs.

The ministry renewed its call to speed up the subscription to the system, which entered into operation on the first of last January.

The website of the Insurance Complex (www.iloe.ae) is the preferred channel for the majority of the insured who have subscribed to the system so far, among several channels available for subscription, which also include the smart application of the Insurance Complex ILOE, Kiosk self-service machines, business service centers, exchange centers, smart phone applications for banks in the country, in addition to text messages and telecommunications company bills.

The electronic subscription to the system is done through four steps, including visiting the website (www.iloe.ae), clicking on the word "Subscribe Here" to access the registration page, then determining the nature of the sector for which he works with entering personal identity data, phone number and verification code sent via phone text message, choosing how to subscribe to the system (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually), and finally entering the email and moving to the payment page to complete the registration successfully.

The unemployment insurance system includes workers in the federal government sector and the private sector according to two categories, the first includes those whose basic salary is AED 16,60 or less, and the value of the contribution of the insured employee within this category is five dirhams per month (AED 10 per year), and the maximum value of the monthly compensation is AED <>,<>.

The second category includes those whose basic salary exceeds AED 16,10, and the subscription value for this category is AED 120 per month (AED 20 per year), and the maximum monthly compensation is AED <>,<>.

The compensation shall be due on the condition of participation for at least 12 consecutive months in the insurance, and the insured's right to claim the value of the compensation shall be forfeited in the event that he leaves the State or joins a new job, and the period of payment of the value of the compensation shall not exceed a maximum of two weeks from the date of the claim.

The insurance program compensates the insured with a cash amount for a period not exceeding three months, provided that he does not submit his resignation or dismissal for disciplinary reasons.

The compensation received by the eligible employee is calculated at 60% of his basic salary in the last six months before unemployment.

Excluded from participation in the unemployment insurance scheme are the investor (the owner of the establishment in which he works), domestic workers, temporary contract workers, juveniles under 18 years of age, and retirees who receive a pension and have joined a new job.
