SBS obtained the results of a poll shared by the Democratic Party, which has recently been hit by allegations of money bags at the convention and the controversy over cryptocurrency investment, at a congressional meeting for party renewal yesterday (14).

Prior to the free debate on reform, the Democratic Party shared its perception of the party's situation through the results of a poll of 142 of its members, members of the Right Party, and 18,1 people over the age of 66.

In particular, when asked which of the Democratic Party and the People's Power they considered to be more moral, it turned out that there was a big difference in perception between the people and party members.

While 2.21 percent of respondents said the morality of the Democratic Party was better, only 3.37 percent of the public rated the morality of the Democratic Party highly.

Among the respondents, 6.15 percent said the morality of the people was better, more than 70 percentage points higher than those who chose the Democratic Party.

In an image survey on the party's core values, 3.39 percent of party members and 6.72 percent of the people said that the image of "challenge, attempt, criticism, resistance, alternative, and solution" "suits the MDP," while 8.44 percent of party members and 1.6 percent of the people responded that "change, innovation, progress, and reform" are "suitable."

In response, the MDP said, "The people no longer believe that the Democratic Party is morally superior to the power of the people," and that "the morality controversy is the starting point for discussions on renewal," and that "the party is losing its image as a party that 'challenges and resists' and 'leads change and reform.'"

The congressional meeting to discuss the party's situation and how to reform it lasted more than six hours until last night, and the MDP immediately said it had "failed to meet the level of the people's eyes" and was "bitterly remorseful."

[Pak Kwang-on, Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea (yesterday): I promise that after the Parliamentary Assembly, we will carry out fundamental reflection and full-fledged renewal with the determination of the re-establishment of the party.

As the Democratic Party has vowed to renew itself at the level of a "re-established party," it will be interesting to see if effective measures to quell the morality controversy can be followed.
