One civilian, six members of the security forces and six assailants killed. This is the heavy toll in Pakistan of the night of clashes between paramilitary troops attacked on their base and fighters. The "well-equipped" and unidentified they stormed the security base in the town of Muslim Bagh in southwestern Balochistan province and captured three families in a residential building, the army said.

Clashes raged from Friday night to Saturday morning, said the army's communication service (ISPR). In addition to the thirteen dead, six other people, including a woman, were also injured.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but ethnic Baloch separatist groups have been waging decades of rebellion against the state in the province, often targeting security forces.
