Erdogan: We are superior and we are waiting for the official results. And we respect if there is a run-off for the elections

The candidate of the ruling People's Alliance in Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said at dawn on Monday, "We know that we are superior in these elections, but we are waiting for the official results that will show the national will."

In a speech before the official presidential election results were released, Erdogan said: "We know that we are superior in this election, but we are waiting for the official results that will show the national will." Erdogan added: "The turnout in the Turkish elections is unparalleled in the world and is the largest in our political history."

Erdogan said that the people should be vigilant until the counting of votes is over, adding that the counting of votes at home and abroad continues, and we expect the numbers to increase with the announcement of the official results.Erdogan said: "We do not know the exact results, but we are 2.6 million votes ahead of our nearest competitors.

Erdogan continued: "We believe we will win in the first round. "If there is a run-off, we will respect that," he said, adding: "We don't know if the presidential election will be decided in the first round.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's vote fell to less than 50 percent after 95 percent of votes were counted, after state media reported his lead early on Sunday. With 95.4 percent of the votes counted, Erdogan received 49.76 percent, Kemal Kilicdaroglu 44.49 percent, Sinan Ogan 5.30 percent, and Muharrem Ince (withdrew) 0.46 percent.

Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency reported that the election results showed a move to a second round of decisiveness between Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu.

Before that, Erdogan said that any announcement of hasty election results would mean "stealing the will of the people." He added, in a post via Twitter, that the counting of votes is still ongoing, and continued, «I ask all my friends and colleagues not to leave the ballot boxes, whatever the reasons, until the final official results are reached», while his rival Kılıçdaroğlu also said on Twitter «We will not sleep tonight», calling for the counting of all ballots.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu accused his rivals Erdogan of "obstructing" the vote counting in remarks at the headquarters of his Republican People's Party (CHP) in Ankara.

"Don't block the will of this nation," Kilicdaroglu said, adding that his campaign would stay "here until every ballot is counted."

Meanwhile, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesman Omer Celik accused his rival CHP of corruption, while CHP politician Ekrem Imamoglu accused state news agencies of publishing fake figures in favor of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
