Al-Burhan dismisses the governor of the Central Bank of Sudan and freezes the accounts of the "rapid support"

The head of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, dismissed Central Bank Governor Hussein Yahya Janqul from his post.

The office of the head of the Sudanese army, in a statement, today, that Burhan relieved Jangol, and appointed Burai Siddiq Ahmed, one of Jangol's deputies, the new governor of the bank, without indicating the reason for the dismissal

Meanwhile, army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan issued a decision to freeze the bank accounts of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and their subsidiaries.

This came in a statement by Al-Burhan's office, which added that the decision stipulated "preventing the disbursement of any benefits or budgets allocated to them. He directed the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the Bank of Sudan to put the decision into effect."
