In response to an SBS report that there was a suspicion of trading virtual currency during a meeting of the
National Assembly Standing Committee, it was confirmed that Kim Nam-kook, a member of the Millennium Democratic Party, admitted the transaction to the party's fact-finding team.

Congressman Kim only clarified to the effect that he did not do it inside the meeting hall, saying, "It was a transaction during recess, in the common room or in the bathroom."

However, there are scenes where Congressman Kim's explanation seems unclear.

Attorney General Han Dong-hoon's personnel hearing last year.

Kim started looking at his phone around 11:14 a.m., and then moved and clicked with his fingers until about 11:17 a.m.

It exactly overlaps with the time that coin experts analyzed as Congressman Kim trading cryptocurrencies.

The MDP fact-finding team reported to the party leadership that at least four virtual currency wallets of Congressman Kim were identified, and that the issuing company received virtual currency through the so-called "airdrop" method, in which new coins are given free to existing holders for marketing purposes.

Congressman Kim was silent all day.

As the controversy grew, MDP Representative Lee Jae-myung ordered an emergency ethics inspection of Congressman Kim.

[Kwon Chil-seung/MDP chief spokesman: The main question will be whether there was any trading activity (at the standing committee meeting) and whether there is any dignity associated with that.]

The People's Power named Congressman Kim's allegations "coin gate" and insisted that the reality of the allegations be determined through a compulsory investigation.
