Every week, some 22,000 medical consultations are not honored in the Yvelines. The average waiting time to see a practitioner can however climb up to 61 days for hospital doctors, shows a survey conducted by the local Order of Physicians among nearly 4,000 practitioners and relayed by Le Parisien.

On average, in 7% of appointments, the practitioner is confronted with the absence of his patient without the latter having informed him. The figure rises to 5.3% in general practitioners' offices, 9% among specialists and 14.9% in hospitals. The phenomenon is experienced as "a scourge that prevents access to care for patients who need it" by 83% of doctors surveyed.

Frédéric Prudhomme, president of the Order of Physicians of Yvelines, denounced these "incivilities". For him, they amplify "the difficulties of access to care in a period of demographic deficit known to all". In a letter to parliamentarians, the leader called for political action to change the situation.
