A fine of 1,000 euros was demanded Friday against far-right senator Stéphane Ravier, prosecuted in Marseille for racial defamation after the publication in July 2021 of a tweet in which he estimated that "immigration kills the youth of France".

In this message on Twitter on July 11, 2021, Senator RN, who then rallied Eric Zemmour before the presidential election, had posted the photo of the young salesman of a phone shop killed with a knife the day before in Seine-et-Marne, accompanied by the following message: "Theo, 18, murdered yesterday by a Senegalese in #ClayeSouilly. Immigration kills the youth of France. »

Deliberated on 7 July

Requesting a fine of 1,000 euros, the public prosecutor ruled that the offence of public defamation on the grounds of belonging to a race was well characterized in this message, reported to the prosecutor's office by the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (Licra).

"The juxtaposition of the Senegalese nationality of the murderer and the term immigration consists in targeting a particular community", "the immigrant community", and "we even indicate a geographical origin", developed Alain Berthomieu. The decision, which has been reserved, will be rendered on July 7.
