The managers of two hairdressing salons and a bakery appeared on Tuesday before the criminal court of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime). All three had to explain the hiring of people in an irregular situation and without a work permit. "These salons practice unbeatable prices, they facilitate the installation of foreign people, not declared and paid in cash," lamented the prosecutor of the Republic, quoted by Paris-Nomandie, about hairdressers.

At the hearing, the magistrate denounced "unfair competition". The defendants expressed their recruitment difficulties but also problems related to administrative procedures. They had been subject to an inspection in November 2022 at the request of the public prosecutor, after several exchanges between different administrations such as Urssaf, customs and the police.

Fines of 4,000 to 10,000 euros

The three defendants were sentenced to the administrative closure of their businesses but also to fines ranging from 4,000 to 10,000 euros. They will also have to pay the charges not declared to the Urssaf. The prosecutor had requested suspended prison sentences.
