The event, presented as a first, will be held Sunday in Lyon. The municipality will launch a festival of world cuisines in the Guillotière district. The Cours Gambetta will be transformed into a "giant foodcourt" for a day.

This event aims to "promote the culinary riches" and cultural diversity of this neighborhood that made the headlines last year for these news items, as well as to support restaurateurs.

Peru, Algeria, India and China

For the occasion, the Gambetta sector will be pedestrianized. Large tables will be set up in the street. More than twenty restaurants and merchants will participate in this first edition, says the city of Lyon specifying that the public will be able to discover typical dishes from Peru, Afghanistan, India, Guinea, Algeria, France, Italy or China.

"Hanging tokens" sold for 3.50 euros will also be "offered to the social centers of the neighborhood for families," says the city.
