President and Macron: Confronting climate change is a key priority for both countries

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the various strategic partnership between the two countries and opportunities to expand their horizons in all fields.

His Highness said in a tweet on «Twitter»: «I discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. The strategic partnership that unites the two countries and our common ambition to strengthen and develop it in various fields, and the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on regional and international issues, and efforts to achieve stability and prosperity in the region.

During the meeting, which took place at the Elysee Palace, the French President welcomed His Highness' visit, expressing his happiness to meet him again in France, while His Highness expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Emmanuel Macron for the warm reception.

Sheikh Abdullah and the French President reviewed the level of development of the strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields, especially cultural, environmental, climate change, space sciences and renewable energy, as well as investment, economy, food security, advanced technology, and other aspects that are in line with the efforts and goals of the two countries towards achieving sustainable development.

The two sides also discussed regional and international developments and exchanged views on them, stressing that promoting peace, stability and cooperation at the regional and international levels is a common goal for the UAE and France.

The two sides touched on the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which will be hosted by the UAE at the end of this year, stressing that climate action is one of the most important aspects of joint action, and that confronting climate change is a major priority for the two countries.

His Highness arrived in France earlier yesterday on a working visit and is accompanied by a delegation that includes HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, and UAE Ambassador to France Hind Mana Al Otaiba.

Mohamed bin Zayed stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on regional and international issues and efforts to achieve stability and prosperity in the region.

Macron expressed his pleasure to meet the head of state again in France and welcomed the visit.
