7 mistakes to expect perpetrators in electronic extortion

Abu Dhabi Police confirmed that there are seven mistakes that lead to the perpetrators of extortion crimes, including weak religious scruples, drifting behind fake relationships, frequenting suspicious websites, emotional emptiness, neglect in socialization, addiction to browsing social networking sites, and parents' failure to monitor and care for their children.

She warned of the dangers of blackmail and called on community members not to accept friend requests from strangers, not to post private photos and videos on social networking sites or send them to unknown people, and to beware of dating sites and applications, as they are often the beginning of catching victims.

She pointed out that extortion is based on threatening the victim with publishing pictures or film materials or leaking confidential information, in exchange for money, or exploiting the victim to carry out illegal acts for the benefit of blackmailers, and these crimes are also carried out in several ways, most notably luring people by creating fake women's accounts on social media platforms, ostensibly aimed at acquaintance and in the subconscious blackmail, and upon acquaintance, a live broadcast is opened with the camera and the victim is filmed in an immoral situation.

She explained that the ways to prevent extortion are not to succumb to blackmail, respond to extortion requests, not send any money under any direct threat, and report blackmail attempts by contacting the "Aman" service, which operates around the clock and in complete confidentiality, on the toll-free number 8002626 (AMAN2626), or by text messages (2828).

«Abu Dhabi Police»: Not to succumb to extortion and not to send any money under any threat is the most important method of prevention.
