Russia has launched airstrikes across Ukraine over the past two days ahead of Victory Day, killing at least three civilians and wounding 3 others across the country.

The General Staff of Ukraine and the Air Force said in a joint statement that "Russia carried out 28 missile strikes centered on the Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions."

He added that in the past 16 hours, Russian forces have carried out about 24 air strikes and 61 rocket attacks, killing at least three civilians and wounding 52 in the country.

In the Black Sea city of Odessa, a Russian missile attack destroyed the International Red Cross warehouse building that stored aid for local residents and burned hundreds of tons of aid supplies.

The capital, Kyiv, has been hit by the largest drone strike ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klicciko criticized on his Telegram channel, saying, "Last night the barbarians carried out the largest attack with 'kamikaze' drones."

Mayor Klicico claimed that about 3 Iranian-made self-destruct drones called "Shahed" were involved in the attack, of which about half, or 28, targeted Kyiv.

Mayor Kliczko explained that the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down a self-destructing drone that flew into the capital, but "drone fragments destroyed some social facilities and residential high-rise buildings in the Sviatosin area."
