A fundraising site in the United States posted the story of a Korean family who was killed in a Texas shopping mall shooting.

It said that the birthday of the first son, Zhao Mo-kun, who was the only surviving member of the family, was four days before the incident, and that he was disguised when he went to the mall to exchange the clothes he received as a birthday present for another size.

The author, who identified himself as a friend of the victim's family, said he was raising money for funeral arrangements and more, and within three hours of the sad story being posted, more than 6,3 people participated in the fundraiser, prompting a wave of mourning.

The survivor, Cho, reportedly underwent surgery in the intensive care unit and is now recovering in a regular hospital room.

The incident shocked the bereaved families as well as the entire Korean American Association of Texas.

[Lee Kyung-chul/Senior Vice President of the Korean Association of Dallas, Texas: (The parents of both families) are not surprised, but now that I've heard about it, they say they can't talk. I was shocked. Because I lost my son, daughter, and daughter-in-law at the same time. We plan to set up something like an incense mill in the cultural center (so that many people can mourn.)]

On the other hand, the story of a clerk who lost his own life after evacuating 3 people, including customers, was revealed, adding to the sadness.

[Raqueli Lee/Eyewitness at the time: The gunshots were like a battlefield, it was so scary.]

While the shooter was shot dead at the scene, investigators are investigating the possibility that the incident was a racist hate crime.

In Texas, where conservative Republicans are majority, shootings have been on the rise in recent years as gun restrictions have been eased.
