By the end of fourth grade, boys have a significant performance advantage in math compared to girls. There are 15 weeks of learning, the boys are further along. This is the result of the "MINT Young Talent Barometer 2023" published by the Academy of Science and Engineering Acatech and the Joachim Herz Foundation on Monday.

In STEM training (for professions in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology), there is only one woman among eight trainees, while in the dual STEM study program, the proportion of women is only 20 percent. Among graduates of a classic STEM degree, however, their share rose to 31 percent.
