Jordan receives MP aggression from the Israeli authorities

Jordanian MP Imad Al-Adwan

Jordan announced on Sunday the start of the process of handing over MP Imad Al-Adwan, who was arrested by the Israeli authorities last month.

The Jordan News Agency (Petra) quoted today the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ambassador Sinan Majali as saying that the process of handing over MP Imad Al-Adwan by the Israeli authorities to the Jordanian security authorities concerned began on the King Hussein Bridge.

Jawad Boulos, the lawyer for MP al-Adwan, said he was informed that the Israeli judicial authorities had cancelled the hearing to extend the detention of the MP that was scheduled to be held today.

Lawyer Boulos added, in statements to the channel "Kingdom" reported on its website today, that "the validity of the detention order issued against aggression expires today."

According to the lawyer: "I was informed of the cancellation of the court session scheduled for today, which legally means the end of his detention, which means that there is nothing that requires him to remain in detention."

Israeli authorities arrested Jordanian MP Imad al-Adwan on April 23rd for allegedly trying to smuggle weapons and quantities of gold through the Karama crossing between Jordan and the West Bank.
