Officially.. "World Health" announces the end of the global emergency associated with "Corona"

The World Health Organization (WHO) said Friday that the COVID-19 pandemic, which in more than three years has killed "at least 20 million people", sparked economic chaos and deepened inequality, is no longer a global health emergency.

"I declare COVID-19 no longer a global health emergency," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters, estimating that the pandemic had killed "at least 20 million people," a toll three times higher than official estimates.

"For more than a year, the pandemic has taken a downward turn, with populations becoming more immune to vaccination and infection, fewer deaths and less pressure on health systems," Ghebreyesus said in a press briefing broadcast live on the organization's official Twitter account.

"Over the past year, the Emergency Committee and the World Health Organization have been carefully analyzing the data and considering when it will be the right time to lower the alert level," he said, noting that the Emergency Committee met yesterday for the fifteenth time and recommended declaring the end of the health emergency for the Corona pandemic.

But he warned that the end of the COVID-19 health emergency "does not mean it ends as a global health threat".
