The National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) opened Thursday a judicial investigation including suspicions of "embezzlement of public funds" in the management of the Marianne fund, created in April 2021 to fight against separatism, said the PNF, confirming information from France Inter.
The management of this "Marianne Fund for the Republic", launched by Minister Marlène Schiappa a few months after the assassination of Professor Samuel Paty, had been the subject of several reports to the justice after press articles. The judicial investigation focuses in particular on suspicions of embezzlement of public funds, breach of trust and illegal taking of interests, said the PNF to AFP.
