Fans of American singer Bruce Springsteen were stunned when they saw former US First Lady Michelle Obama appear on stage, after she made a trip from the United States to the Spanish city of Barcelona to take on a surprise mission, which is to be a supportive singer for the singer, who also seems to have been surprised to share songs on stage.

Obama took to the stage with the wife of American director Steven Spielberg, actress Kate Capshaw, and played the tambourine during the song "The Maged Days" last Friday.

The two women co-performed with the singer's wife, Patty Self, and the band iStreet. One fan of the crowd said: "That was the last thing one could expect to see Michelle Obama on stage. What a surprise, she is a multi-talented woman. The public went crazy to see her."

The Obama family has had a deep friendship with Springsteen and his wife for several years. Springsteen, who is touring Europe, met with former President Barack Obama during his 2008 election campaign and held concerts to raise funds for the former president. Springsteen was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016. Springsteen opposed President Donald Trump, who succeeded President Obama, and sang his famous song "Born in the United States" at large political rallies.

The Obamas flew to Barcelona the day before the concert and joined the Spielberg and Springsteen families at the Palace Hotel. One waiter asked to take a picture with the guests and post it on Instagram, writing: "I'm glad this work makes me meet you."

Before going to the ceremony and taking to the stage, the former first lady had taken a tour of Barcelona to see the special places there with her husband.
