British authorities announced that they will deploy more than ten thousand police during the coronation ceremony of King Charles III and his wife Camilla on Saturday.

Seventy years after the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain is preparing to crown its new king. In a sign of the countdown, some of the royal family's staunchest supporters have begun taking their positions on the long boulevard stretching from Buckingham Palace.

Tens of thousands of Britons and tourists are expected to line up along the route that Charles and Camilla's motorcade will take between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey.

Around 2300,<> people were invited to the ceremony, including leaders, heads of state and government and kings from around the world.

Among the politicians attending the ceremony are French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Former US President Donald Trump has criticized President Joe Biden's decision not to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III.

Eight months after Operation London Bridge, the codename for Elizabeth II's funeral, British police are carrying out Operation Golden Europe to crown the king.

Secretary of State for Security Tom Tugendhat said the ceremony, which culminates three days of celebrations, would be "one of the most important security operations" Britain has seen.

"Our intelligence services and other security forces are fully aware of the challenges we face and are prepared to face them as the police did brilliantly" on Tuesday evening, he said, as a man suspected of being armed was arrested after approaching the fence of Buckingham Palace and throwing objects believed to be firearm cartridges into the palace garden.

"A security cordon was struck after the man was found in possession of a suspicious bag," a police statement said, noting that experts deliberately detonated it as a precaution.

Police said the suspect had been arrested and later said they were not currently treating the case as terrorism-related.
King Charles was not at the palace at the time, but shortly before he had received Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for one of the diplomatic meetings ahead of the coronation.

On Saturday, more than 11,500 members of the security forces will be deployed, London police said. Scotland Yard official Adi Adelekan said: "This will be the biggest single day police mobilization in decades.

Over the course of a week, 29,<> security personnel will be deployed.

In central London, police will use facial recognition technology. Snipers will be deployed on rooftops.

No will take part in the procession, which will march between Buckingham and Westminster. Edward William Fitzalan Howard, who organises the coronation, said it would be an "event of great pomp".

A six-minute air show will be held over London.

In addition to the coronation ceremony, Britain is preparing for three days of celebrations. On Sunday, the public was invited to participate in a "big lunch" as part of the neighborhood parties, where the "coronation cake" will be on the list, the recipe for which the palace unveiled in mid-April.

At night, a concert will be held at Windsor Castle in west London, attended by 10,<> randomly selected Britons.
