Horrible discovery. Monday, the corpse of a dolphin was found in a garbage can, in the district of Tréboul, in Douarnenez (Finistère), reports Sea Sheperd France, which published this Wednesday on its social networks a photo taken by a resident.

"The way it was butchered leaves no doubt that its flesh was consumed, which is strictly prohibited," says the NGO for the defense of the oceans, which announces that it will file a complaint for "mutilation of protected species".

A scarified dolphin discovered in February

Sea Sheperd France has been denouncing for several years the incidental capture of dolphins by fishing gear and the mutilation of cetaceans. On February 18, during a patrol off the coast of Les Sables-d'Olonne (Vendée), members of the NGO had discovered a scarified dolphin with the inscription "Sea Sheperd PD" engraved with a knife on the corpse.

The NGO had then promised a bonus of 10,000 euros for "any testimony allowing to identify and convict" the perpetrator or perpetrators of the mutilations. "None of our dozens of complaints about captured and unreported dolphins, maimed, eaten, scarified has ever resulted in any conviction," Sea Sheperd France said in justifying its approach.
