Kim Ki-hyun, head of the People's Power Committee, drew his knife over the controversy over the recording of Supreme Council member Thae Yong-ho's nomination.

It requested that the controversy be referred to the party's ethics committee for consideration along with existing disciplinary matters.

[Kim Ki-hyun/Representative of the People's Power: His exaggeration, as if he had said something that the Chief of Political Affairs did not say, has caused unnecessary misunderstandings and has placed a considerable burden on the Party.]

As a result of the emergency meeting in the afternoon, the Ethics Committee of the People's Power added the controversy over the recording of the nomination to the agenda the existing disciplinary grounds, such as the remarks directed by Kim Il Sung on 4 April in Cheju.

[Hwang Jeong-keun/Chairman of the Ethics Commission of the People's Power: We have made the decision to initiate disciplinary proceedings and will hear them at the meeting next Monday at 3 p.m. in conjunction with the existing disciplinary agenda....]

The Ethics Committee will decide the disciplinary level after hearing a call on these matters from Supreme Commissioner Thae on the 4th.

The possibility of severe disciplinary action is mentioned in response to criticism that it has thrown cold water on the party's atmosphere of renewal, but the authenticity of the remarks made by political affairs chief Lee Jin-bok regarding the nomination itself is considered false.

Supreme Council Member Thae called a press conference and repeatedly denied the transcript and said he would search for the leaker.

[Thae Yong-ho/Supreme Committee Member of the People's Power: Those who illegally recorded and leaked the contents of the internal meetings of the aides will be investigated and searched to the end.]

Democrats called for an investigation.

[Kwon Chil-seung/MDP chief spokesman: We agreed that this is a violation of the political neutrality of the President's office, and that this is a very clear serious crime. An investigation needs to be opened.]

Regarding the allegations that he received split donations from city and ward councillors, Chief Commissioner Thae also claimed that he was confident without a single stain on the solicitation of donations.
