Their names are Tchuk, Koda and Gaufrette. Three cubs were born very recently in Planète sauvage, announces the animal park of Port-Saint-Père (Loire-Atlantique), near Nantes. Born a few days apart from two different mothers (Friskette and Noura), they are all baribal black bears, a species native to North America.

Newborns, which weighed between 200 and 450 grams, are born deaf and blind. They now trudge with the rest of the bear group and a herd of bison. They will remain breastfed by their mothers for a total of eight months. In the wild, the baribal bear is regularly poached and its population continues to decrease due to deforestation, reports Planète sauvage.

At the end of March, the Loire-Atlantique Zoological Park had already announced the birth of four small Angolan lions, an endangered species classified on the red list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
